Edamyar Ond, also known as Bisu Changrandi wherein the agriculture cycle starts in Kodagu. Kodavas follow the solar calendar and is observed in the mid – April.


On this day prayers are performed in the fields, cattle are yoked and the paddy fields are ploughed to symbolically mark the occasion.

The Kodava New Year also corresponds to Vishu in Kerala. The main occupation of Kodavas is agriculture, but due to the migration of Kodavas to the urban areas has caused decline in the celebration of this festival.
