Mandalpatti or locally called as Mugilpete, lies in the Pushpagiri Reserve Forest range near Hammiyala village in the Madikeri taluk at a distance of 20 kms from Madikeri. The peak is around 1600 meters above sea level.

This place is a major tourist attraction owing to its panoramic valley view, fog covered mountains, wide spread shola grasslands, treacherous and winding roads. “Mugilpete” means town of clouds, the ever fog laden place has derived its name from the same.

It is also a famous place for 4X4 SUV drive enthusiasts. The view point has a tower, which provides a magnificent view of the misty surroundings.
